Earthworks Company, Inc. will apply the highest level of integrity to all aspects of our business services and
will skillfully and creatively manage each project to ensure customer satisfaction,
while respecting the natural character of the island landscape.

Road BuildingCompany owners, John and Chris Thompson, were both born and raised in the Pacific Northwest. They lived for many years in the Seattle area where they were married 30 years ago. When they moved to Orcas Island in 1972, their lives became entwined with the construction business. John started at the "bottom of the ladder" as a laborer, working hands-on through all aspects of the trade. He became proficient in heavy equipment machinery, and then moved into management of an excavation company.

In 1997, John and Chris founded Earthworks Company, Inc., on the premise that quality construction principles and attention to detail would be their unwavering standards. With John's 25 years of construction experience and Chris' skills in bookkeeping and office administration, they soon established a reputation of quality and dependability.

Earthworks has grown into a full service operation including septic implementation, with the exception of septic design. Having direct control over these operations, using all their own extensive range of equipment, gives them a unique ability to provide the most accurate bids for time and cost, while ensuring all work meets their standards of excellence.

They are fully licensed for all types of projects, whether big or small. Services include land restoration, ponds and waterscapes, trail building, fire abatement, site preparation, underground utilities, road building, drilling and blasting, and more!
