Our professional crews are experienced in restoration or rehabilitation practices.
Theses services include stabilization projects, noxious weed removal, and
ecological restoration of small islands.

Barges and special equipment were
used to manage the project.

All existing buildings were carefully dismantled
with the minimum use of heavy equipment.

Clean up was done with nothing more than hand tools and
man power. Weeds were hand pulled and
native grasses were planted in efforts to return
the island to its former state.

No trace of human activity was left
when the project was completed.

Earthworks has a special interest in the goal of restoration. We understand the limitations of achieving certain ideals of restoration: historic information may not be available, species may already be lost, or efforts may be prohibitively expensive.

Restoration is a considerable challenge. However, we meet the requirements of understanding the nature of the ecosystem itself, as well as
the nature of the damage and how to repair it.

Recreating natural community or preserving a community for posterity in essentially its natural state is a choice of values. We love the land and feel rewarded by providing this option for people in the San Juan Islands.
